The Thought Police out in force to protect islam from critical analysis

The Student Thought Police have jackbooted into Eau Claire Wisconsin

The Thought Police have jackbooted into Eau Claire Wisconsin ripping up the First Amendment to the United States Constitution as they march en force.

“A UW-Eau Claire student group is worried the political opinions of a tavern owner are fostering a hateful atmosphere toward Muslims at his popular Water Street bar.” -See article below

The victim/offender (of voicing political opinions) is Mr. Jed Hart; owner of The Pickle tavern.  Mr Hart’s ‘egregious’ offense? A unproven statement that the Thought Police have deemed to be “worrisome” speech or (myth of) Islamophobic.

(Mr. Hart) said comments he made against terrorism were misquoted and that he didn’t say anything disparaging about a religion. “It wasn’t an anti-Muslim comment, it was an anti-terrorism comment,” he said. “When it comes to Muslims, Catholics, Jews — none of that’s on the plate. It’s all about terrorism.” -See article below

Mr Hart’s has made his own stance on the subject clear on his web sites:

“Hart said his views are not geared toward a specific faith or nationality, just against terrorism. “It’s people that don’t like America,” he said. Hart’s website — which can be found at alwaysremember912.com and saveanamericankillaterrorist.com — includes a timeline showing 15 terrorist acts going back to 1983. It focuses on incidents that killed Americans — including several al-Qaida attacks, but also notes the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing of a federal building by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. “- See article below

Nevertheless the University of Wisconsin -Eau Claire ‘Students for Undemocratic Thought Harassment’  have deemed themselves judge, jury and executioner and have proceeded on their crusade to besmirch, censor and punish Jeb Hart…and others:

“Senior Allison Shilling, director of the Student Life and Diversity Commission, said the current effort is aimed at gathering testimony from people who witnessed discrimination at any campus-area tavern, not specifically The Pickle.”

Taking it even further:

“In a letter sent in April to The Pickle, attorney Harry Hertel wrote on behalf of the Student Life and Diversity Commission, requesting the anti-Muslim behavior be addressed in sensitivity training for management and possibly a letter of apology sent to the commission.”-See article below

Yes these totalitarian teens want Mr. Hart to apologize (for what? free speech? civil rights?) and attend “sensitivity” training. (Otherwise known as brainwashing)

What gives this group of youths the self appointed right to enforce Orwellian “worrisome” thought eradication? Undoubtedly most of whom have recently swapped being mollycoddled by their parents to being nestled in the arms of college ‘pseudo’ parents (deans, professors, residential assistants). Isn’t free speech a benchmark of college life which past students have marched and protested to expand and protect?  Does anyone recall the student demonstrations for ‘anything goes’from back in the 1960s?

So what is happening on college campuses that has infected these young minds to create such a disdain for free speech? And what guarantees that anyone should live their entire life without ever experiencing the offshoot of political correctness aka “hurt feelings”?

“Students are learning both from the campus environment and from administrators themselves that it is not only acceptable to silence opinions they deem offensive, but that doing so is a noble and appropriate act. This dangerous lesson is taught to students through powerful examples coupled with a systemic campaigning of inculcation and outright misinformation let primarily by college administrators. (from low level residence assistant up to the university counsel and presidents office)” Lukianoff, Greg. “Students Against Liberty?” New Threats To Freedom. Ed Bellow, Adam. Templeton Press. 2010 p. 138.

Thus our very own colleges – once considered bastions of free speech have become the worst offenders of same and are producing a generation of Thought Police automatons who – in their  puffed up self-importance and learned intolerance – think it is their duty to squelch and punish any ideas contrary to their rote understanding of what is right or wrong –  as taught to them by erudite collegiate elites. Apparently the First Amendment has been altered to exclude comments about Islam.

Anti free speech actions, on US college campuses, have become such a threat there is now an organization whose main purpose is to register and investigate thought police attacks against college students (and clearly private citizens located in ‘campus areas’):

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) ….has documented hundreds of brazen violations of freedom of speech on campus.” Ibid. 139.

Is it any wonder that Islamic organizations have found fertile ground on gag-happy college campuses? Fertile ground where administrators, faculties and students are all too willing to implement the Islamic standards for free speech (or lack thereof).  How ironic such sharia standards – which these same Eau-Claire students both extol and seek to punitively enforce on Jed Hart et al- would, if implemented in greater scope,  suppress and silence these same students thoughts, actions, feminist freedoms, Lesbian and Gay rights, etc in a millenia of negative or fatal ways.

One can guarantee that Islamists/sharia law would not give a damn about ‘hurt feelings”.

Eau Claire tavern owner disputes allegations he’s anti-Muslim

A UW-Eau Claire student group is worried the political opinions of a tavern owner are fostering a hateful atmosphere toward Muslims at a popular Water Street bar.

But Jed Hart, owner of The Pickle, at 341 Water St., said comments he made against terrorism were misquoted and that he didn’t say anything disparaging about a religious faith.

“It wasn’t an anti-Muslim comment, it was an anti-terrorism comment,” he said. “When it comes to Muslims, Catholics, Jews — none of that’s on the plate. It’s all about terrorism.”

The Student Senate’s Student Life and Diversity Commission alleged that students heard the phrase “(expletive) the Muslims” repeatedly shouted by bar management from the DJ booth at The Pickle during a spring event. Hart said he didn’t use the word “Muslims” in that chant but did say the word “terrorist.”

In a letter sent in April to The Pickle, attorney Harry Hertel wrote on behalf of the Student Life and Diversity Commission, requesting the anti-Muslim behavior be addressed in sensitivity training for management and possibly a letter of apology sent to the commission.

Hart remembers getting the letter in spring, showing it to his attorney, and ultimately deciding it didn’t warrant action or a response.

But now members of the commission are asking additional students who personally witnessed any violence or hate speech on Water Street to come forward.

Several UW-Eau Claire students handed out small green-colored paper fliers

Wednesday on the Campus Mall referring to discrimination and hate speech at “certain student affiliated establishments on Water Street.” At a table set up by the students, there were copies of the letter sent to The Pickle in spring.

Senior Allison Shilling, director of the Student Life and Diversity Commission, said the current effort is aimed at gathering testimony from people who witnessed discrimination at any campus-area tavern, not specifically The Pickle.

“We’ve just heard a lot of complaints about establishments on Water Street,” she said. “We’re using this time to gather testimonies.”

Hate speech creates a concern for student safety at businesses near campus, Shilling said, especially since the university’s population of international students has been growing.

Davan Raj, president of the International Student Association, noted his concern over the anti-Muslim chant that students alleged happened at The Pickle.

In a letter sent to the university’s student newspaper, The Spectator, Raj wrote, “The actions of the bar owner poses a dangerous threat to our Muslim friends.”

Raj continued by writing about the danger that intoxicated bargoers incensed by anti-Muslim speech could then go looking for Middle Eastern students to harm.

Hart said his views are not geared toward a specific faith or nationality, just against terrorism.

Along with some of his employees serving in the Afghanistan war, Hart also has a personal connection to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. His uncle, John Hart, who served as a father figure to Jed, died in the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
